Do you ever have so many projects that you don’t know where to start?  I’m realizing that what I want to do this year may be a bit much to tackle, but we shall see.  First off, I’ve started a book on How to Make Gem Trees.  It will expand on the information within this Blog with more pictures, diagrams and designs.  I’ve also started making greeting cards for all the birthdays, and special events this year.  I actually bought kits from QVC so it’s not like I don’t have all the stuff already.  I have scrapbooking stuff to add to an album, more jewelry to design and make, marketing my web site and developing additional content such as gem tree kits, possibly creating a tutorial with pictures on basic wire wrap pendants and I’ve had requests to watercolor paint a couple of designs appropriate for men’s cards.  I’m also entering another competition this summer for the gem trees and I haven’t started to make any of them yet let alone fix my case liners.  I would like to learn chain maille and do more soldering of silver.  All this and we aren’t even finished with January yet and I haven’t completed any of them.

I’ve decided that work is getting in the way of all my hobbies.  I guess there is no way around that if I want to eat but what I would really like to do is make enough money at my hobbies that I don’t have to work….that will be the day. ;-) With that in mind, my first priority will be to get the book completed.  That will at least bring in some additional income from the sales.  Next is to work on my gem trees that I will use for competition at the end of June.  This is an advanced competition so the trees have to be more complex and larger than the ones I submitted last year.   Although, if my sample trees for the book meet my standards for competition then maybe I can work them both at the same time.  All the rest will just have to be fill in during evenings and on weekends when I’m not doing the other two.

I’m sure I am not alone in my quest to fill extra time with hobbies.  If you want, share your hobby goals for the year, just leave a comment.
